Lisa here, the founder of Trevellers.
I started Trevellers because I realised that frequent travellers like you and me have no real belonging. When we travel, we are neither local nor tourist. We are in the middle – we know a lot about the country, yet there is no real sense of belonging. Returning home, we are neither truly a local at home nor are we foreigners in our homeland.
So Trevellers is to connect like-minded frequent travellers. The focuses are –
- A community of belonging: where people truly understand the struggles and issues!
- Authenticity: too many bullshit content online. We need real quality content!
- Gratitude: we are very very fortunate to be who we are today. It’s important to be grateful for the experiences and help those who are learning the art of travel.
If you are still interested in my story, read on.
I’m always fascinated by diversity, cultural and differences. Living in Singapore, I grew up in a multicultural and multiracial community and it has served me well. Then, I began to get out of Singapore to discover even more differences. I have learnt and experienced so much that all I want is to leave footprints in new destinations and share my stories. I’ve since lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Vietnam and England. I also know Germany fairly well too, as I consider Germany my home too.
How I Started
Hong Kong is the reason I started this site; to share my experiences and to inspire others to follow in my footsteps. What I enjoy most about Hong Kong is its balance with skyscrapers and mother nature. She offers the same fast-paced city life from Mondays to Fridays, yet the calming serenity of nature during the weekends.
Best Thing About Travel
The best thing about travel is the people you meet. Throughout the time abroad, I was always listening to amazing stories from travellers, backpackers and adventure seekers. The stories, their open-mindedness and their experiences never fail to inspire me. I hope to inspire others like these people have inspired me. Hence, I started Trevellers to create a community of like-minded frequent travellers, seeking stories and tales to tell others.
My favourite thing about travel is to be constantly inspired by the world and humbled by the people I meet. Each person has a unique story to tell and I can’t wait to listen to more stories! I’ve met a British who cycled to Asia (Hi Dan), a Russian who gave up everything and moved to China (Hi Andrey) and the Hong Konger who left everything behind for Australia (Samuel bb) and many more! They are one of my sources of inspiration to continue my travel journey and inspire others to do so too. I believe that everyone deserves the chance to have an experience like me.
And one last thing.
If you want something badly enough, the whole world conspires to help you achieve it.
Join this Trevellers community to explore the world of endless opportunities and conquer the world, one trip at a time!
