Finally. I have time to explore my own city. I realise that, despite working and staying in WanChai, I actually know nothing about this place. I discovered some cool street one day so I decided to explore it with my camera. I end up walked to Shangri La hotel, Hong Kong Park, Bank of China and Central. All I wanted was to explore Queen’s East Street but oh well, it was fun to spend some time alone. I realised I have been spending my weekends crazily with tons of people and I think I really need some me-time. I’ve got so many things to do and have not done them.
And I found the perfect place to cafe hop in WanChai! So many cosy cafes for a good catch up or just having a great book and tea, together with some perfect weather! The best thing is that the place is in this street called “Star Street”. It’s my street 😉 There are tons of cafes here and hipster clothes stores. I think hipsters would DEFINITELY love this place.
Hong Kong will never fail me in terms of its architectural landscape. I love the intense density and concrete jungle.
The afternoon sun was creeping through the trees. I love how I see rainbows through my lens because of the refraction.
A day is never complete without selfies. Despite enjoying me-time (with 5% on my phone), I really wished I had someone with me to take selfies. The first thing I think about in Hong Kong is not the party scene (my friends’ first thought), shopping (the ladies’ first thought) and small apartments (family’s first thought), it is the mafia. 黑社会, the black mafia. Apparently Hong Kong has tons of mafias and well, as much as it is dangerous, it’s cool to go to a mafia meeting or make some mafia friends. Maybe I can rise and become the triad leader in the gang. Theboss, truly ♡ (ok I’m kidding. headhunters for gangs please don’t find me)
Also, for some reason, it’s super warm today. Leather jacket and black jeans are the worst combination boo
Instagram worthy aye?
The ever iconic Bank of China. This building was featured in the crap movie: Pacific Rim.
I love long exposure at night. I think I’m gonna come back here at night to play with my camera and night lights in Hong Kong.
Long exposure failing because it’s the day. I love glass and reflective material on the buildings but I hate how it always reflects the sunlight to my eyes. It’s a love-hate relationship. I woke up at 8am today because the sunlight was reflected DIRECTLY on my face. I need my sleep damn it
That’s the way to the Peak (i think). I think I shall hike to The Peak next week! Today’s sky is so blue and clear. Hopefully next week too! While taking pictures, some LOCALS asked me for directions. I’ve been officially localised oh yeah!
I love WanChai so much! I should consider exploring different places each weekend. And the other weekend for hiking. yup
Places I need to explore:
- Sham Shui Po
- Kowloon Tong
- Causeway Bay (it’s like 10min away from my house but still)
- Diamond Hill
- Tsim Sha Tsui
- Yau Ma Tei
- Prince Edward
- North Point
- Kennedy Town
Ok, I hope I have enough weekends to cover them. *finger crossed*
