Travelling in a certain region or continent? Fret not, here’s a list of the low-cost carriers in the region. This is part 2 of the Trevelhack Series: The Ultimate Guide to Buy the Cheapest Air Ticket.
Check out the cheapest airlines by cost per miles flown.
Travelling Around Asia

Lion Air is a great airline to fly with if you are thinking of exploring Indonesia as this is a domestic airline. Consider Bali, Jogjakarta and Mando when travelling Indonesia!
Spring Airlines: Flies around China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Cambodia.
A china based airline that is so huge that in most large airports in China, they cater 2 whole rows for Spring Airline check-in counters! Small leg room space as usual and not recommended for people with longer legs.
HKExpress: Flies to Hong Kong, Korea, Vietnam, China and Japan.
I had such a bad experience with HKExpress. The mobile and desktop sites are extremely different and they do not update their sites regularly. They do run cheap air ticket promotions, however, they do not take it down when it’s over nor is their payment system great. However, their customer service staff are nice and friendly!
Dragonair: Flies to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea (Busan), Cambodia and Nepal.
Perhaps the most popular airline in Hong Kong after Cathay Pacific, everyone recommends me to fly to Taiwan with Dragonair.
China Airlines: Flies to Taiwan, China and long distance destination.
Contrary to popular beliefs, China Airlines is a Taiwan based airline. I flew to Taiwan with China Airlines and it was rather great.
Cebu Pacific: Flies around Philippines and Asia regions.
If you are planning a trip around Philippines, you have to consider Cebu Pacific. They do have crazy insane sales that are extremely affordable to fly around Philippines! I flew with them from Boracay to Cebu and it was very affordable.
Peach Airlines: Flies around Japan, Hong Kong and Seoul.
Japan is an expensive country, we all know. But did you know that they do have cheap flights there? Peach air is affordable and has good flight schedules too.
Asia to Australia
Jetstar: Flies to Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand and China.
I guess it is the same for all budget airlines because the leg space was extremely tiny and uncomfortable. Thankfully it was only a short trip to Bali (Indonesia). Many people I know fly with Jetstar from Singapore to Hong Kong!
Scoot: Flies to Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Cambodia, Male (Maldives) and the Philippines.
I enjoyed my flight with them from Hong Kong to Singapore although many people have had other types of experiences with them. I do love Scoot and would take them again!
AirAsia: Flies to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.
Good news everyone! “No Fuel Surcharge” is now a thing for AirAsia so your tickets only include Air Fare, Admin Free and Airport Tax! I also do enjoy travelling with them.
Flying in Europe
2 of the most popular continents to travel and explore are probably Europe and Asia due to its diverse culture and differences.

Ryanair: This is probably the most common airline that people in the travelling community recommend. Ryanair flies to most popular EU countries and are cheap. I once flew from Brussels to Berlin for 5€!
Easyjet: Another low-cost European airline that fly to many destinations. PS: Easyjet flies to Geneva and Zurich (Switzerland). I flew from Athens, Greece to Naples, Italy for 22€.
Germanwings: Flies around Germany and across Europe.
Air Berlin: Another Germany based company that flies across Europe.
#TrevellersTips: However, when travelling Europe, do not just focus on taking the plane. Europe is interconnected with trains, roads and buses. Booking them in advance also helps in saving costs. Try out Blablacar.
Conquering North America
North America is a huge continent and many are interested in road trips there. However, if you are considering to drive from one state to another and not road trips, please think about flying instead. In America, low-cost carriers are so competitively-priced now, that they are a good alternative to cars. It costs about the same to rent and drive a car across the states compared with flying across. Bonus: flying saves you time and time is money!
Delta flies across the USA and also further regions like Europe and Asia too.
Southwest is probably one of the most popular flights. Unlike Europe, it might be cheaper to fly across the states than to drive, as the tickets are now convenient and cheap! My friend even got a 1-for-1 Southwest ticket before!
#TrevellersTips: Airfare watchdog is a useful site that helps you to track your flight prices in the States.
All in all, there are many websites that have promotions and deals. Momondo, Skyscanner and Google Flights are some sites that help you to compare across the different airlines.
Remember that these sites do not take into account the existing deals so it’s also good to check at the individual airline sites!
