Making use of the Easter holidays to travel, this destination: South Korea. The 9D8N trip to Seoul was really eye-opening and amazing. The best times to visit Korea? We went in springtime. Late April is the beginning of spring, and the weather is perfectly chilly and great. Flowers were blooming everywhere and I’m in love.
Best Times To Visit Korea
Spring is the time where cherry blossoms bloom. We were supposed to go during the cherry blossom period, but they bloomed a week earlier. It’s important to check the cheery blossom period because it gets earlier each year and you really don’t want to miss it. My Korean friend, Taylor, was sending me pictures of the beautiful cherry blossoms outside his university.
Temperature is extremely cooling. It’s about 14-20 degrees every day. Please pack well because, with the wind, it can get rather chilly. I packed for summer and I was freezing my ass off every single day.
Summer: (June – September)
Summer is the season for the resorts, water activities and trips. It’s hot and hot! However, the summer resorts in Jeju and Busan are not something you want to miss. The beaches have sparkling clear water and you can tan by the beach the whole day, drinking Soju and eating fried chicken.
Autumn: (September – November)
Autumn is my all-time favourite season hands down. I really fall in love with everything I see. The colours, the scenery and the weather! A mix of orange, red and yellow flowers together with some green leaves by the clear blue waters. The word for autumn leaves in Korean is danpoong, 단풍. The best places to enjoy the autumn season are the royal palaces, Jeju island and all the hikes available. x
Winter: (December – March)
Basically, winter in Korea means skiing and snowboarding. Korea and Japan are the 2 most popular destinations in Asia during the winter period. They probably have the most authentic snow in Asia. x
Ps: Every time I tell my friends that I want to go to Korea for the snow, they look at me in a really confused state saying, “NO! I swear nothing beats the Swiss Alps and you should only ski there!”
In short, every time is a good time to go to Korea, depending on what you hope to do. Spring is the best for chilling with a cup of coffee in one of the many beautiful cafes. Summer is best for beaches, resorts and water sports. Autumn is the best for experiencing nature and visiting beautiful sights. Winter is for snow sports and activities.
