Hong Kong is home to the 5 Star Cathay Pacific airline and you can expect nothing but an exceptional experience when passing through it’s First Class Lounges at HKG.
The Wing, First is one of my favourites in the world. Located above Gate 1 as well as accessible directly from security to the left hand side as you exit security and passport control.
Arriving early is a MUST. Not because of the hordes of people frequenting the lounge, but because there is so much on offer that you’ll want to take full advantage of relaxing during your travels.
Bubbles at The Wing, First
As you enter, you are greeted with an intimate serviced Champagne Bar area offering Moet & Chandon Rose, Veuve Cliquot (my personal favourite) and vintage The Peninsula Brut. That in itself is enough to arrive with plenty of time to kill – but that’s just the start my friends!
Once you have picked up a glass of bubbles and proceed through the lounge, you are greeted by a decent sized area with individual leather seats and another bar serving a range of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits which overlooks the runway and spans several gates.
It’s at this point that I have to suggest that you park your stuff somewhere and head to the cabanas…. Yep, you read that correctly. Where any lounge worth its frequent flyer points will offer shower facilities, Cathay Pacific have outdone themselves and offer a number of cabana suites slap bang in the middle of the airport – ready for you to have a bath with bubbles, and MORE bubbles!
Add yourself to the waiting list, and proceed straight back to the Champagne Bar while you await the magic disc to light up and vibrate indicating your time is up and you’re good to go.
The cabana suites offer a fantastic space in which to relax in. They have a desk area to carry out some work, while you await your bubble bath to run – completed with a shower area if you so wish to use it.
Once you have used your 2 hour time limit and soaked the security interrogation away, you may proceed to The Haven, which is an intimate dining setting. You will be able to enjoy both a self-serve buffet, along with an a la carte menu offering a variety of east meets west dishes – and more bubbles.
Having reached peak relaxation, you may then lounge around taking in the fantastic views of the airport goings on, before floating off to your next destination with your mind blown and your diary ready to plot the next time you’ll be able to come back and enjoy the CX experience.

Don’t forget CX has another First Class Lounge in HKG – The Pier, which has a dedicated noodle bar, relaxation rooms and free massages, so be sure to check that out if you have enough time.
