Hiking in Luxembourg is on the Luxembourg Bucket List, so I stayed longer than 2 days. Here are 3 things to do in Vianden, Luxembourg.
For those who told me that there is nothing to do in Luxembourg, you have not explored enough! They told me, you just need 2 days for Luxembourg and you can leave the country. Thankfully I did not heed their advice.
One of the best hiking spots is in Vianden. Vianden is so gorgeous, I wondered if I accidentally walked into a postcard instead. The moment our car passed the castle, our eyes popped open, staring in awe.
The most popular attraction in Vianden is the castle itself. Built during the 11th and 14th century, it is one of the most beautiful castles in Luxembourg. The castle also once housed the counts of Vianden, which worked closely with the Royal Family of France and Germany in the 15th century. Today, the castle is a museum to show people the rich history and architecture.
The castle is open every day from 10:00am.

Chilling By The River
If the weather is too great and you’re feeling too lazy to do any hikes, you can chill by the l’Our river instead. There are many eateries in Vianden, from €5 meals to fancy high end cuisines.
We felt lazy and decided to chill by the river instead. There is a hotel at the bridge of the river, with outdoor sitting. Beers start from €5.
I recommend that you spend a night in Vianden. You can spend the day hiking, chill during sunset with a beer and wake up for delicious brunch the next day!
You can drive from Luxembourg City.
Or take the train to Ettelbruck, then take Bus 570. The bus station is beside the train station. Vianden is the second last stop, and you can ask the driver to alert you. The entire journey takes an hour and costs €4 in total.
